Tajikistan: street-sweeper killed in an explosion near the presidential palace in Dushanbe
RIA-Novosti reports a powerful explosion barely 300 meters from the presidential palace in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, this Wednesday.
The explosion took place at 6:10 a.m. (Moscow time) near Kohi Vahdat, the palace complex where a Central Asian emergency risk abatement conference under the EU aegis was to take place on November 14. Tajik Prime Minister Akil Akilov was expected to attend.
The police reported one casualty. "He was the street-sweeper who stumbled onto the device and inadvertently triggered it," spokesman for the Interior Ministry said.
