Long-awaited restyling of Daewoo Nexia, something it needs desperately, is postponed. UzDaewooAuto lacks the money for the project. Now that the Uzbek assembly factory in Andijan may be sold to a new investor, however, it may never get down to the project at all.

Reincarnation of the best-selling model was supposed to boost the sales. At first, the plans were to launch serial assembly of the upgraded Nexia this autumn. Absence of the new investor and the necessary funds, however, compelled the factory administration to table the project, sources in Uzavtoprom (the owner) told PRIME-TASS news agency. Sources in UzDaewooAuto told this correspondent that there was no point in looking far ahead (concerning Nexia restyling) because the new head of the factory was to be appointed in the near future.

Alexander Gnezdyuk, Director of the Department of Development of one of UzDaewooAuto's six official importers, is convinced meanwhile that the new sedan will be presented at the Moscow Auto Show in August 2007. According to Gnezdyuk, the first two autos were undergoing tests at this point. The upgraded Nexia will be marketed in October 2007, Gnezdyuk said.
