Seven heroin labs were destroyed in Afghanistan in 2006
Officers of the Tajik Drug Enforcement Agency and their Afghani colleagues ran nine special operations in Afghanistan in 2006 and confiscated nearly a ton of drugs including 313 kg of pure heroin.
DEA Chief-of-Staff Colonel Fahriddon Jonmahmadov announced at his press conference on January 12 that seven heroin laboratories and over 1 hectare of poppy fields had been destroyed in Afghanistan. More than 2,300 kg of drugs (evidence) were burned in 2006 when criminal investigations were over.
Tajik security structures and law enforcement agencies confiscated almost 4,790 kg of drugs in 2006 (the Interior Ministry more than 2,440 kg, National Security State Committee almost 100 kg, customs more than 28 kg, border guards 821 kg, and DEA almost 1,400 kg).
