Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan: Ferghana governors set up an informal forum
Janish Kurbanov, Deputy Governor of the Jalalabad region of Kyrgyzstan, says the heads of six regions of the Ferghana Valley decided to organize an informal Ferghana Summit.
The decision was made by governors of the Namangan, Andijan, and Ferghana regions of Uzbekistan and Osh, Jalalabad, and Batken regions of Kyrgyzstan who met in Ferghana. The next informal meeting of the heads of administrations will take place in Jalalabad. Constituent documents of the so called Ferghana Summit will probably be adopted there.
Namangan hokim (governor) became Ferghana Summit chairman, Osh governor its coordinator.
The Ferghana Summit aims to facilitate friendship and stability in the region and advance economic and agrarian interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
