Global Uzbek Council launched as a non-profit organization

Washington DC, July 19, 2005 – The Global Uzbek Council (GUC) is an international network which has been formed to facilitate strong lifelong bonds among Uzbek professionals and foreign friends of Uzbekistan – both at home and abroad. It was officially launched as a non-profit organization on July 15th 2005.

“There is a sea of young talent all over the world who feels passionate about Uzbekistan, and who carries an enormous amount of positive energy,” Atabek Nazirov, chairman of the Council, said. “Our mission is to unite this talent by providing a networking platform in order to successfully steer this energy for the development of Uzbekistan.” The GUC’s objective is to effectively utilize the growing diverse pool of human capital, available within the group, for the benefit of Uzbek society and contribute to the stability in Uzbekistan. The GUC is planning to engage in a variety of activities, such us: Educational and Charitable Activities

• Mobilize funding sources for scholars from Uzbekistan to conduct research and analysis

• Develop internship and mentorship programs for the talented students in Uzbekistan through our network of professionals located abroad

• Perform various charitable activities for the benefit of people of Uzbekistan mobilising donors around the world Networking Cultural, and other Engagements

• Promote cultural activities in major cities abroad and create awareness about the prospects and opportunities in Uzbekistan

• Provide a networking platform for professionals from Uzbekistan located abroad and connect them with their peers around the world

• Offer speaker series and workshops on different topics; write publications and conduct interviews with prominent people familiar with Uzbekistan
