“Some 20,000” Hizb ut-Tahrir members active in Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Atakhanov told a session of the parliamentary committee for defense and security that there are some 20,000 members of the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir party are illegally active in Kyrgyzstan. According to the 24.kg agency, the party members are mainly active in Talas and Chuy Regions in Northern Kyrgyzstan and in certain areas in Southern Kyrgyzstan.
“A total of 190 cases of extremism were identified, 130 criminal investigations were launched, and over 2,000 leaflets were seized,” Deputy PM Atakhanov said.
