Uzbekistan banned 34 computer games

According to the Agency for Intellectual Property of Uzbekistan, a ‘List of computer games that are not recommended for import, reproduction (production) and distribution in the territory of Uzbekistan’ included 34 computer games.

The reason was the ‘Regulations on licensing of types of activities for the reproduction, sale, rental of audiovisual works, audio records, and computer programmes, as well as the production of audio records.’ According to the document, the licensee is charged with the obligation ‘to prevent the reproduction, sale, and rental of computer programmes that can be used to promote violence, pornography, undermining security and socio-political stability in the country, civil peace, inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony, dissemination of inauthentic information about Uzbekistan and distortions of its historical, cultural and spiritual values.’

There are such popular games among young people as Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Doom 3,4, Hitman, and others in the list of banned games.
